Facts About Heroin

Heroin is a morphine derivative and the most commonly abused narcotic. Street names include smack, horse, H, junk, and scag. It can be injected, inhaled, or smoked. Effects include euphoria followed by drowsiness, constricted pupils, nausea, and respiratory depression. Overdose risk is extremely high, especially with fentanyl-laced supplies. Treatment with methadone or buprenorphine is highly effective.
